DID YOU KNOW...?

Gustave Eiffel engraved on the tower seventy-two names of French scientists, engineers and other notable people. This engraving was painted over at the beginning of the twentieth century but restored in 1986–1987 by the Société Nouvelle d'exploitation de la Tour Eiffel, a company contracted to operate business related to the Tower.

Piper bought this postcard from 1906 while on a trip to Paris with her mother a few years back. After rifling through 100s of postcards she came upon this little piece of sweetness. On the back of the postcard a man has written to a friend back in Provence about his trip to Paris. The handwriting is still completely legible and the awe and love of Paris jumps off the page. What made Piper fall in love with this card is the beauty of the image of the Eiffel Tower. The pen ink had started to bleed through over the years and the inked Postal stamps on front were vivid and gave the postcard much of its personality.
